INTRODUCTION TO THE CLUB

Established in 1958, Clydeside is one of Glasgow's oldest Model Railway Clubs and is a member of the Association of Model Railway Societies in Scotland.

The club aims to cater for all abilities of Modeller and among our current membership we have our excellent modellers, but we also have our not so skilled, who are also very important to our club life. Those who are willing to learn and perhaps most importantly are willing to lend a hand are rated highly.

We meet every Tuesday & Friday in our clubrooms, which are in the Centre of Glasgow, from 7.30pm onwards, and visitors are always welcome. There is limited parking available near the club but you may wish to park in another part of the City or travel by public transport to the club.

Those who are unable to attend the weekly meetings in the clubrooms are kept up to date with the clubs activities through our quarterly Journal. The Clydeside Journal contains articles on various items of general railway interests as well as items relating solely to the club. All articles are written by members of the club and then collated by our Journal Editor.

At Clydeside Model Railway Club, we take pride in our ability to offer a warm welcome to all vistors to our Club. The space available enables us to have several of our layouts set up and undergoing development or available for running sessions at the same time.

The club has many useful facilities on offer including a modelling workshop with a small lathe and air-brush. We also have a good range of books and magazines on railway subjects contained within our library.

The club attends the main Glasgow exhibtions (i.e. Model Rail Scotland and Cathcart), and has frequently been asked to exhibit our layouts at other exhibitions further afield. A few of our members are involved with preservation groups and club outings to preservation and model railway exhibitions take place from time to time.

As a club member you are entitled to free entry to these Model Railway Shows-as a club support steward/railway operator.

Whatever your interest in Railways we are willing to chat and encourage the development of the Hobby (all for the price of less than a pint of bitter). The club currently models in O,OO and HO.
